In the Tarrytown, NY woodshop of C-Los Carpentry you’ll find Carlos Chimborazo and his partner Elena Krougliak. Carlos started working with wood and apprenticing in carpentry shops in Ecuador, at the age of 12. He quickly fell in love with the process of building something entirely from scratch, and loves using his hands to create beautiful, functional pieces. Elena draws on her background in interior design to help guide their vision for their custom pieces.
Although they pride themselves on being able to build anything from furniture items, to built-ins, their roots in the hospitality field always take them back to creating pieces centered around the dining experience. Working frequently with fine-dining restaurants, such as Blue Hill at Stone Barns, they collaborate with chefs to create objects that are used at the dinner table.
C-Los pieces at The Dowry include cutting boards, bowls and other wood kitchen accessories. The designers are inspired by the shared experience of sitting together with friends and family to enjoy a meal, to talk, and to connect. We love the organic shapes and textures that wood adds to any room and hope you find something special for your home from C-Los Carpentry.
Welcome to C-Los Carpentry!
“The shared meal elevates eating from a mechanical process of fueling the body to a ritual of family and community, from the mere animal biology to an act of culture.”
― Michael Pollan
