“We have calcium in our bones, iron in our veins, carbon in our souls, and nitrogen in our brains. 93 percent stardust, with souls made of flames, we are all just stars that have people names.” ― Nikita Gill
Every time I fired up my kiln last year I created a tiny paper star. Now I have a jar full of these small, colorful good luck charms that encourage me to follow my heart.
My name is Emily LoPresto and I’ve been working with my hands and clay for more than half my life. It feels deeply personal now, it’s not just a hobby or a profession; being a ceramicist is who I am. I currently work in Detroit as a Mold Maker for a local ceramic artist. Using technology, I get to solve problems with the molds I make to ultimately yield a beautiful, artistic, functional piece of pottery.
I studied, and earned a degree in, Jewelry Metals, and now spend hours on my own art studio which is a dream come true. I love knowing that the ceramics I make are in homes across the country, doing their jobs as bowls and mugs and vases, all the while creating more beautiful and personal spaces.
I’m Emily and this is E. Lo Ceramic Art. I hope you enjoy what I make.
