Meet the Maker, Corey Silverman, the trained glass artist behind The Furnace: A Glassworks, in Lakewood, Colorado.
While earning his BFA from Alfred University in New York, Corey received training as a glass artist. When he finished at Alfred in 1998 he worked at several glass studios around the country and experimented with many different types of glass work including slumped forms, casting, cold work, solid sculpting and blowing. Through his expansive studies he discovered a love for the blown form and focuses on that today.
Corey creates distinctly colorful tumblers, glasses, vases, and more. His use of color, shape and pattern define his work as both functional and collectible. He appreciates the immediacy of making blown vessels and knowing exactly the end result of the object as it’s being placed in the annealer to slowly cool.
