Meet the Maker, Amy Lowrey, of Tiny Hands Pottery Studio in Boone, NC.
Amy describes herself as an accidental potter when in 2015 she decided to take a pottery class and fell, “deeply, head over heels in love with it.” Until the spring of 2019 she spent her entire adult life in the non-profit/ministry sector helping marginalized students gain funding for college, building homes for families in Mexico, and traveling to 40+ countries to deliver supplies to school children.
Amy’s collection at The Dowry includes traditional ceramic and travel mugs, charcuterie pot with toothpick pocket, plant pot with watering pocket, and a match pot with striker.
“Creativity and beauty have the ability to light the world,” Amy explains. “I love that my studio is a place where people can feel nurtured and inspired.” Amy’s philosophy is to make pieces that she loves and that speak to her own personal aesthetic. She hopes that this approach will draw others to her work, too.
